The Arms and New Logo of the British Institute of Radiology

The British Institute of Radiology is currently having their Arms Granted to them by the College of Arms but I have been able to illustrate the design whilst they are awaiting the Grant itself. I was able to work from the approval sketch supplied by the College which features Wilhelm Rontgen and Marie Curie as the supporters.

The design of the Arms themselves is inspired by a logo design that BIR (British Institute of Radiology) from the 1920s which was beautifully executed in an understated Art Nouveau style. I used this design to influence both the layout of the shield as well as the updated logo. It was a pleasure working with Sara and Stephen from BIR.
